An artist-led programme for KS3 boys

Drum Role

Rhythm. Connection. Confidence.
A better future for boys.

Using drumming, rhythm and shared creative experiences to support boys' wellbeing and potential in UK secondary schools.

The challenge

Many boys are quietly struggling.

Boys are struggling — and we can't ignore it. Drum Role was created as a response to the challenges raised inThe Lost Boy Report: boys increasingly disconnected from their feelings, their peers and a sense of belonging, in school structures that rarely make room for physical release, creative exploration or meaningful connection.

Our offer

An artist-led programme for KS3 boys.

Drum Role uses drumming, rhythm and shared creative experiences to help boys build confidence, connection, communication and emotional expression. This isn't a music lesson — no drumming experience needed. Just the willingness to show up and take part.

What the boys told us

Three things came through, session after session.

Connection

Boys loved playing together and being part of something bigger than themselves.

Expression

Being able to play loud and channel energy felt powerful and important.

Structure

Clear boundaries helped boys feel confident, focused and free to express.

From a Student Support Lead
"These sessions gave a freedom and a flexible space where boys were able to let those guards down without fear of judgement."
